This Privacy Policy explains how Slatepencil collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the Slatepencil app, website, and related services.
By using Slatepencil, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this Privacy Policy.
1. About Slatepencil
Slatepencil is an invite-only learning app for students. It helps students learn through syllabus-friendly, quest-based learning experiences, profile-based setup, progress tracking, and subscription-based access.
2. Information we collect
We collect information needed to create accounts, provide learning features, manage subscriptions, improve app reliability, and keep the app secure.
Account and personal information
- Name, student nickname, and parent or guardian name
- Mobile number and email address, if available
- User ID, login provider, and optional profile photo
Student and learning profile information
- School name, city, grade or class, section, and education board
- Learning goals, routine, study preferences, streak goals, and age
- Preferred help language and parent or guardian details
Subscription and purchase information
We may store subscription product, plan, status, expiry, auto-renewal, verification, and Google Play order information. We do not directly collect or store card, UPI, bank-account, or full payment details.
App activity and learning progress
We may collect onboarding progress, learning and quest activity, XP, streaks, app interactions, feature usage, preferences, and settings.
Photos
If you choose to upload a profile picture or use an image-upload feature, we may collect the photos you choose to provide.
App info, diagnostics, and device identifiers
We may collect crash logs, diagnostics, performance information, device or app-instance identifiers, security signals, and connectivity errors to maintain reliability and prevent abuse.
3. How we use information

4. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We may use trusted providers for authentication, cloud hosting, database storage, analytics, diagnostics, remote configuration, security, subscription verification, Google Play Billing, and customer support. We may also disclose information when legally required or to protect users and the service.
5. Google and Firebase services
Slatepencil may use Firebase Authentication, Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, App Check, Cloud Functions, Google Play Billing, and related Google services to provide and secure the app.
6. Data retention
We retain information for as long as needed to provide Slatepencil, manage accounts, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and maintain security. Account-related data is deleted or anonymized after a verified deletion request unless retention is legally required.
7. Account deletion
Request deletion at support@theslatepencil.com. Include your registered mobile number and a clear deletion request. We may verify ownership first. Deleting an account does not cancel a Google Play subscription.
8. Children and students
Slatepencil is designed for students and may be used with parent, guardian, school, or authorized-adult involvement. Where consent is legally required, the responsible adult should review and approve use of the service.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security.
10. Your choices
You may choose whether to provide optional information, update profile details in the app, request support, or request account deletion.
11. International processing
Service providers may process information in locations outside your state or country, subject to applicable safeguards and law.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this policy and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
